The Ex-Nihilo Project provides the tools, resources and networks to start a for-purpose business ‘ex-nihilo’ (out of nothing). It’s Australia’s first for-purpose start-up hub that’s only accessible to people from resource-poor communities (refugees, migrants, first nations, single mums).
The 12 month program offers an incubator community, workshops, financial support, business mentors, daily co-working space and coaching, peer-to-peer support and childcare.
The project is a partnership with Green Collect – a leading Australian social enterprise that we’ve worked with since they started-up over 15 years ago. The co-working space is co-located at Green Collect’s Braybrook hub.
We know the project works because our London pilot – Social Enterprise Ideas Development- has 65 participants starting their own businesses, ‘ex-nihilo’.
The project will use our internationally recognised For-Purpose Business Model Workbook developed with Bayes Business School in London, as the ‘curriculum’ over the 12 month project. The tools and templates will be customised so they are accessible and relevant to people from different backgrounds.
Our first pilot in Australia in July 2022 is for 20 participants.
Can you help us create an opportunity for for people usually excluded from starting a for-purpose business, to change their own circumstances?
How can I help?
Donate to the project - your gift is tax deductible via our partnership with Green Collect.

Book an advisory or training session with us – all income cross-subsides the Ex-Nihilo Project. So when you grow your for-purpose business, you help grow someone else’s too.
