Australian Cyber Security Strategy for SMEs

What does the new Cyber Security Strategy mean for Startups, SME's and their Customers?

Join us for this important one-hour online discussion, unpacking of the recently released Cyber Security Strategy and Plan for the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Australia and their customers.

Millions of Australians have had their data stolen and released online in the past year. Startups and SMEs have a unique and timely opportunity to contribute innovation to this critical area. The global cyber industry is growing rapidly, and Australia can be a leader in the space; the current government is making Cyber Security an urgent national priority. An author of the strategy, Brendan Dowling will be joining us as a speaker.

Our speakers:

  • Brendan Dowling, DFAT Ambassador for Cyber Affairs and Critical Technology and co-author of the Australian Cyber Security Strategy.
  • Ian Oppermann, NSW Chief Data Scientist and Industry Professor at UTS
  • Daniella Traino, Group Chief Information Security Officer (GCISO), Wesfarmers

Hosted by - Harry Godber, Co-CEO at Spark Festival.

Note, the session will be recorded and may be streamed at a later date.

This event is open to startups and SME's with an interest in Cyber Security; and of course, our whole startup ecosystem.

Hosted by Spark Festival

Spark Festival has a mandate to coordinate and promote startup-focused events that spark engagement into and across the startup ecosystem. We're a grass roots organisation, by startups for startups. We normally host Spark Festival once annually, with complementary events like this one, taking place throughout the year.

Spark Festival has been made possible with support from the Australian Computer Society, Department of Industry, Science and Resources, William Buck and Atlassian, and continues its mission to drive engagement into and across the NSW startup ecosystem.
