Building Investor Relationships to Last

Founder-investor relationships can often seem like a marriage. Arguably, they’re even more nuanced than that. Whether you’re bringing on your first investor or have your scaling ambition see new investors join the fold – navigating founder-investor relationships can feel quite challenging.

How do you forge a good relationship? How does it evolve over time? And how do you ensure that it doesn’t end in heartbreak?

Join us as we break down these questions and more with Sarah Gibbins, Head of Experience at Rampersand, an early-stage Australian VC that invests in Australia’s most disruptive and promising tech and communications startups.

Throughout her career, Sarah has worked in complex environments with high-functioning, ambitious people from Hollywood to Silicon Valley. From film sets to venture capital, she’s held senior roles in marketing, innovation and growth at corporates, startups and a family office in New York, LA, Sydney and Melbourne. As Head of Experience at Rampersand, she’s responsible for the end-to-end experience of their founders, investors, and team – with her speciality lying in identifying market opportunities and addressing organisational challenges to scale brands, products, and businesses.

Joining Sarah in conversation will be Josh Sharma, Head of Labs at LUNA. Leveraging his experience as a startup lawyer, Josh brings years of expertise supporting early-stage startups from idea to investment and has spent countless hours over the last few years helping founders set up processes to form better relationships with their investors.

We’ll be discussing:

- How to choose the right investor;

- Aligning values and expectations;

and - Managing challenging investor conversations.
