About Anita:

Anita Aherne is widely recognised in Australia for her pioneering efforts, notably founding and developing the inaugural National Autism Directory, Living on the Spectrum. As someone who is neurodivergent herself, Anita has committed herself to fostering positive transformations and enhancing understanding across various aspects of Neurodiversity, with a particular focus on autism, ADHD, dysgraphia and mental health. Her journey began with a deeply personal mission to bridge gaps in support and understanding for neurodivergent individuals and their families, leading her to actively participate in submissions for the National Autism Strategy, National Carer Strategy, and the ADHD Senate enquiry.

Fuelled by her own experiences and challenges, she set out to establish Australia's first national autism directory and neurodiversity hub. Through this platform, Anita has provided invaluable resources and connections for countless individuals seeking guidance and community.

Passionate about the intersection of neurodiversity and the workforce, Anita has tirelessly advocated for educating employers about the benefits of a diverse workforce. With a keen eye on the economic and business advantages of embracing neurodiversity, she has worked diligently to dismantle misconceptions and promote inclusive hiring practices.
