About Future2
Future2 is the charitable foundation of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA). Our mission is to make a lasting difference in the lives of young Australians who need it most.
About the Grant
The type of grant offered by the Future2 Foundation is a one year grant up to AUD$10,000.
Applications to receive grant funding are invited from organisations that have programs to address the needs of disadvantaged young Australians aged between 12 and 25. They can cover any of the following areas.
- Education, including skills training and leadership development
- Engagement, including mentoring and juvenile justice programs
- Employment, including work experience and job readiness training
- Wellbeing, including remedial programs for drug and alcohol dependence
- Independent living and social inclusion.
Every application must be supported by a financial planner who is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

The application must be completed online through the online portal. The online application form may be saved for completion at a later date. The application must be accompanied by a short video.
PROCESS & HOW TO APPLY
CHARITY/NOT-FOR-PROFIT (NFP)
Step 1. Endorsement by an FPA member
Identify and make contact with an FPA member who is willing to endorse your application for a grant. Your application must be endorsed by an FPA member.
Step 2. Online entry form
Create an account and select "Charity/NFP"
Complete the Charity/NFP application form, filling in the details of the FPA member including their email address.
The details provided in your application enable us to assess eligibility and to decide whether or not your funding request should be shortlisted. You should find it relatively quick and easy to complete.
Once you submit your finalised application, the online system will automatically send the FPA member an email with a Request to complete a 2022 Future2 Make the Difference! Grants Form. The email will contain a link to the online portal with log-in details. Once received, the FPA member must complete their section and submit by 5pm, Friday 30 September .
Supporting documents
There will be a section where you can upload additional information (optional) and the video (compulsory) to support your application.
Criteria for the video:
- Your grant application must be accompanied by a short video message.
- There is no expectation that the production of the video will require any professional support or investment - rather, we are looking for short, engaging videos that will showcase your organisation's work. You can even film it on your Smartphone!
- The video length should be between 30 and 90 seconds long and no bigger than 100mb.
- If you are successful in receiving a grant, your video may be shown on Future2 channels including the website, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn for the purpose of promoting Future2's Make the Difference! Grants.
Suggested format for the video message:
- The video length should be between 30 and 90 seconds long and no bigger than 100mb
- Introduce yourself and your organisation.
- Tell us a little about your organisation.
- Tell us how receiving a Make the Difference! grant will support the work that you do for your community.
- Make a quick mention of the FPA member who supported your grant, if possible.
If you are a Charity/NFP and you do not have an existing contact or relationship with an FPA member, all is not lost, you can still apply for a grant by approaching and arranging endorsement from an FPA member. You can identify FPA members in your area in two ways:
- Visit the FPA website's Find A Planner at www.fpa.com.au/find-a-planner and enter your postcode or suburb to locate a local planner.
- Call 02 9220 4523 or email info@future2foundation.com.au and ask to be put in touch with your local FPA Chapter.
Once you have identified an FPA member to endorse your grant application, the FPA member must:
- be briefed about your organisation and the project for which funding is being sought
- agree to complete a nomination form to support your application
- complete their section of the online application by 5pm, Friday 30 September .
FPA MEMBER
Step 1. Consider local Charities/NFPs
If you know of or work with a local Charity/NFP that you would like to nominate for a 2022 Future2 Make the Difference! Grants, go ahead and nominate and help change the lives of young Australians who deserve a better future.
Step 2. Online entry form
Create an account and select "I am an FPA Member"
Complete the FPA member section of the online form, filling in the details of the Charity/NFP including their email address.
The details provided in your section consists of advising what contact you have had with the applicant (if any) and why you believe the application deserves the support of Future2.
Once you submit your finalised nomination, the online system will automatically send the Charity/NFP an email with a Request to complete a 2022 Future2 Make the Difference! Grants. The email will contain a link to the online portal with log-in details. Once received, the Charity/NFP must complete their section and submit by 5pm, Friday 30 September .
I have received an email with a “Request to complete a 2022 Future2 Make the Difference! Grants Form”
When you receive a request to complete a grants form, the email will contain a link to the online application portal log-in details and a password. You must complete your section of the form and submit by 5pm, Friday 30 September .
Both sections of the form must be completed and submitted by 5pm, Friday 30 September .
Should the application you endorse win one of the 2022 Future2 Grants, please note the grant payment will occur following a cheque presentation at an FPA event. This ensures that the work of the winning Charity/NFP has the opportunity to be profiled before the local FPA community - the members who generously donate to Future2.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Future2 seeks to support projects and programs that give a second chance and hope for a better future to young Australians who are socially, financially or physically disadvantaged. Each application is assessed on its individual merits, with priority given to programs that:
focus on young people aged between 12 and 25 years who may be;

- living in poverty
- homeless
- at risk of juvenile justice or transitioning out of it
- intellectually or physically disabled
- socially isolated
- living in dysfunctional family situations
- fighting substance abuse
and whos program;
- Demonstrates financial knowledge and management capability
- address specific problem areas in ways that enable disadvantaged young Australians to move towards productive and fulfilling lives (see Eligibility)
- are designed to impact directly those most in need
- try to identify and deal with the cause of a problem, not simply treat the after-effects
- will continue to have an impact and remain sustainable well beyond the period of our support and, if appropriate, have the capacity to become self-sustaining
- could be extended or replicated so that they benefit an increasing number of young people
- are measured and evaluated to show the progress of the program, its outcomes and impacts
- involve or have the potential to involve financial planning professionals in volunteering, fundraising, pro bono advice, committees, etc.
- may show evidence of collaboration with other agencies and organisations to implement or extend the reach of the project, or to share improved knowledge
- are well-managed and prudently budgeted.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Eligibility requirements are:
- status (must be one of the following):
- -charities with Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status
- -registered charities
- -not-for-profit organisations (NFPs)
- Australian based not-for-profits assisting youth in need aged between 12 and 25 years
- all applications must be endorsed by an FPA member.
In general, the following are not eligible for funding:
- individuals
- government entities, for example, government departments, statutory bodies and organisations wholly funded by government
- religious groups, except for programs that support a non-religious purpose
- programs outside Australia
- recurrent costs or general operating expenses of an organisation
- 100% of the costs of any program unless future financial support can be demonstrated
- study programs or conferences
- research, except in special circumstances at the Board’s discretion
- travel, except where it is integral to the operation of a program
- retrospective requests, general fundraising appeals or commercial sponsorships.
