Apply for a grant through the Collier Charitable Fund. The Fund prioritises projects that benefit Victorians, particularly those addressing social disadvantage, inequality, and urgent community needs.
Grant amounts vary depending on the project, with average funding typically ranging between $30,000 and $35,000.
Purpose of the Fund
The purpose of the Collier Charitable Fund is to continue the legacies of Alice, Annette and Edith Collier by striving to improve the lives of Victorians and other Australians by assisting those in need.
Distinguishing it from many other charitable foundations, the Wills of the Collier sisters specify:
- the categories of charitable purposes to be supported and
- the proportion of funds available to be distributed for each purpose
In keeping with this, the Collier Charitable Fund makes grants for a broad range of charitable purposes, including for:
- the relief of poverty through direct material aid and emergency relief;
- building the capacity of charitable organisations to address the causes of poverty and disadvantage; and
- the support of Victorian public hospitals and organisations pursuing religious purposes
Given the broad nature of these purposes, the Fund has developed guidelines to assist applicants. Eligible applicants should apply for funds to support areas that are a key priority for them in accordance with their strategic objectives.
Funding Areas
The Wills of the Collier sisters stipulate the areas to be funded and the proportion of income to be applied to each of the areas. The support provided focuses on Victorians in some instances, and in other instances it encompasses the wider Australian community. The following provides an overview of each of the five areas that are funded.
- Supporting Victorians in need
- Strengthening Victorian Public Hospitals
- Progressing Education and Training in Australia
- Furthering Faith and Religious Endeavours in Australia
- Aiding other Australian Charitable Causes
