Mornington Peninsula Shire Grants

Mornington Peninsula Shire Council has adopted a Community Investment Funding Policy 2022 guiding the funding of grants and subsidies to support initiatives and projects that build the social, cultural, environmental and economic life of the Shire.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Grants

Helping community organisations, businesses, individuals and sole traders connect with and apply for grants and funding.

This work is guided by the Council and Wellbeing PlanCommunity Vision and our Community Investment Funding Policy.

Grant Writing Workshop (2.5 hours)

Council's Community Investment Funding - subsidies now open (invitation only)

Council supports a number of organisations to deliver services and programs across the Mornington Peninsula.  Subsidy applications opened on 13 July 2023 via invitation only and close on 7 September 2023.

Funding Finder

The Shire hosts Funding Finder to assist community groups/organisations and businesses to search for funding external to Council's Community Investment Funding.  It is a free service, all you need to do is register.

Access and Social Inclusion Grant

Climate Action Grant

Purpose Deliver carbon emissions reduction partnerships to achieve the Climate Emergency Plan's goal of net zero emissions by 2040 
Value

For community projects that help reach the targets outlined in the Shire’s Climate Emergency Plan.

Eligible applicants may seek up to:

  • Minor Grant:  Up to $ 5,000
  • Major Grant:  $5,000 up to $10,000

Community Events Grant

Purpose To enable community participation and celebrations

Eligible applicants may seek up to $10,000

Please note that the event infrastructure subsidy previously available under the Community Event Fund (Triennial) will not be offered under this grant program. Events that are requiring marquees or access to the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Soundshell are encouraged to include these items in the budget submitted as part of this application. 

Assessment Deadlines

Assessments are undertaken on a monthly basis, against the following deadlines:

  • Applications completed by 15th* of each month, assessment completed within 7 working days

  • If application is received after 15th of the month, assessment will be deferred to next month^

 

*Dates and timings are subject to change at the discretion of Mornington Peninsula Shire

Local Area Community Capital Infrastructure Grant

To provide funding for projects that improve the built and natural environments within the Mornington Peninsula Shire

Assessment Deadlines

 Assessments will be undertaken against the following deadlines:

  1. Applications received by 7 September 2023*, assessment completed by mid October 2024*
  2. Applications received by 31 January 2024*, assessment completed by 29 February 2024*^
  3. Applications received by 30 April 2024*, assessment completed by 31 May 2024*^

 

If an application is received after the scheduled deadline, assessment will be deferred to the next date

Performing Arts Development Grant

Pitch Sessions

Pitch sessions will be held approximately two months prior to the bi-monthly closing date for applications. This will include a short presentation on the guidelines and information on writing a compelling grant application.  Applicants will be divided into groups to meet with a peer/panel member for further discussion of the process.  Applicants must individually 'pitch' their project idea to a panel member who will score proposals in an assessment rubric to determine eligible projects. 

Potential applicants will be invited to apply within two weeks of the information session, with a link to the application form included in the email notification.  Unsuccessful applicants will be notified they will not progress to a full application.

This process will assist to clarify eligibility and objectives and invite quality applications from a diversity of artists proposing innovative, inter-cultural performance projects spanning a range of forms, styles, audiences, and cultural contexts.

Pitch sessions are held in-person only (not online).

Application Deadlines

Assessments are undertaken on a bi-monthly basis, against the following deadlines:

  • Applications to be completed by 15th* of every second month starting in August (August 2023, October 2023, December 2023, February 2024 and April 2024)
  • Assessment will completed within 7 working days of close date
  • If application is received after close date, it will be deferred to next assessment period^

*Dates and timings are subject to change at the discretion of Mornington Peninsula Shire

^Program will not continue once funding allocation is fully committed

 

Value

 

There is no upper limit to the amount of funding that can be applied for via this program, however, the level of assistance available is limited by Council’s budget allocation and its priorities. Grant requests over $30,000 will be required to meet with the Assessment Panel.  No applicant can be guaranteed funding, nor can any applicant be guaranteed to receive the full requested amount; however officers will assist applicants to ensure that the funding request is commensurate to project viability.
