New Grant to Support First Nations Jobs & Enterprises

The Department of Social Services has launched a new grant opportunity (GO ID: GO7659), aimed at advancing Indigenous employment and business development across Australia. This initiative is part of a broader commitment to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through targeted economic support.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must fall under one of the following entity types:

  • Company, Cooperative, Partnership

  • Corporate or Non-Corporate Commonwealth or State/Territory Entities

  • Incorporated Associations, Indigenous Corporations

  • Local Government Bodies

  • Statutory Entities or Authorities

  • Trustees (where the Trustee is an eligible entity type)

Importantly, applicants must either:

  • Be an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation falling within one of the three groups specified in section 4.1 of the grant guidelines, or

  • Form a consortium with one or more organisations that meet that criteria.

How to Apply:

All applications must be submitted online via GrantConnect. Applicants must:

  • Complete the application form in full

  • Address all eligibility and assessment criteria

  • Submit all required templates and documentation

  • Ensure submission is received by 9:00 PM AEST on 20 May 2025

What to Expect After Applying:

  • Assessment will occur within 5 weeks of the closing date

  • Outcomes will be approved within 7 weeks

  • Applicants notified within 9 weeks

  • Grant agreements awarded by August 2025

  • Activities commence from late August 2025
