Overview
This program aims to assist the NDIS Commission to ensure people with disability have their rights upheld when accessing NDIS supports and services delivered by skilled providers and workers.
The current grant opportunity is the Knowledge and Skill Development. The objective is that people with disability exercise their rights when accessing NDIS supports and services, and providers and workers are upholding the rights of people with disability in the delivery of NDIS supports and services.
Grants between $100,000 and $500,000 (excluding GST) are available.
A total funding pool of $5 million (excluding GST) is available over two years.
Applications must be submitted prior to the closing date and time to be eligible. Late applications will not be considered and will not progress to assessment.
Eligible Activities
Eligible projects must:
- Achieve the objectives and intended outcomes of the Grants Program and the relevant grant opportunity.
- Uphold the rights of people with disability, including the right to choice and control.
- Align with the social model of disability.
Eligible activities must directly relate to the project and may include:
- Peer-to-peer workshops
- Digital resources, including apps and podcasts
- Interactive online environments
- Resource development – handbooks, websites, e-products, animations
- Delivering training and information sessions
- Pilot programs
- Facilitating capability building workshops

Who Can Apply ?
Eligible applicants must:
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Have an account with an Australian financial institution.
- Be located in Australia.
- Be one of the following entity types:
- A company incorporated in Australia
- An association incorporated in Australia
- An Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006
Applicants do not have to be an NDIS provider (registered or unregistered) to apply for a grant under this grant opportunity. Requests for pre-curt proofreading GUMs will not be allowed. However, providers may choose to apply for a grant.
Main Assessment Criteria
The main assessment criteria include:
- Describe the activities they will deliver and why these are needed.
- Describe how the project will increase:
- People with disability’s knowledge of their rights and skills to exercise those rights when accessing NDIS supports and services.
- Provider and worker knowledge of the rights of people with disability and obligations to uphold these rights in the delivery of NDIS supports and services.
- The skills of people with disability, providers and workers to exercise and uphold the rights of people with disability when accessing or delivering NDIS supports and services.
- Describe the organisation’s capability and capacity to successfully deliver the project and how their organisation will achieve project sustainability.

Restrictions
The following are ineligible for funding:
- Individual
- Sole trader
- Partnership
- Unincorporated association
- Overseas resident/organisation
- Purchase of land
- Major capital expenditure
- Covering of retrospective costs, including legal costs
- Major construction or capital works
- Overseas travel
