The Fair Work Commission announces minimum wage increase for 2025-26
The Fair Work Commission (FWC) has increased the National Minimum Wage (NMW) and all modern award minimum wage rates by 3.5 per cent effective 1 July 2025.
This increases the NMW to $24.95 per hour or $948 per week, based on a full-time, 38-hour working week. This equates to an increase of approximately $32 per week.
It is expected that the changes to minimum wages and awards will impact about 2.6 million workers and their employers. Around 1 in 5 Australian employees in Australia are paid at the applicable minimum wage rates in the 121 modern industry and occupational awards.
Super increases for 25-26
A reminder that the superannuation guarantee rate will increase from 11.5% to 12%.
The 12% rate will need to be applied for all salary and wages paid to eligible workers on and after 1 July. This is even if some or all of the pay period it relates to is before 1 July.
This is the final scheduled increase following the introduction of the 9% super guarantee back in 2002.
