Ember Connect has appointed Latoya Bolton as the charity's inaugural Chief Executive Officer, marking an exciting new chapter in the organisation's growth.
Commencing in late July, Latoya's appointment is a significant milestone as Ember Connect continues to expand its impact and strengthen opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women across Australia.
A proud Noongar/Yamatji woman, Latoya brings more than 20 years' experience across the government and non-government sectors, with expertise in education, community development and improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Ember Connect Chair Eve Howell said the appointment comes at a pivotal time for the organisation.
"Over the past four years, the charity has built a strong foundation and a growing digital community of more than 5,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and 1,100 allies," Ms Howell said.
"We are now well placed to build on that momentum, grow our community and increase our impact. Latoya brings deep experience in education and community development, along with a strong commitment to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to access opportunities and shape their own futures."
Latoya said she was honoured to join Ember Connect and help lead the organisation's next phase of growth.
"Ember Connect has already created something very special—a national community where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women can connect, share knowledge and access opportunities that support their goals," Ms Bolton said.
"I am excited to work alongside the Board, the team, members, allies and partners to build on this strong foundation. There is enormous opportunity to grow Ember Connect's reach and deepen its impact, particularly for young women, women pursuing career and education pathways, and women exploring business and enterprise."
Since its launch, Ember Connect has grown into a vibrant national network that empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women through connection, collaboration and opportunity. Under Latoya's leadership, the organisation is set to build on this momentum, expanding its reach and creating even greater impact for communities across the country.
