New Social Enterprise Precinct for Tasmania

A new social enterprise hub is set to be established in Wynyard, Tasmania, following $9.6 million in federal funding through the Regional Precincts and Partnerships Program.

Led by Big hART, the Artisan Precinct Initiative will create a purpose-built space for innovation, enterprise and cultural practice. The precinct will include workshops, a First Nations cultural workshop, a commercial greenhouse, an artisan hub and supporting sustainability infrastructure.

Designed to support up to 10 enterprises at a time, the program will help emerging ventures grow to a self-sustaining stage before making space for new participants.

With a strong emphasis on First Nations cultural leadership and pathways for young people facing unemployment or disengagement from education, the initiative aims to build local capability, create training and employment opportunities, and strengthen long-term community development across Tasmania’s north-west coast.
