The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Report 2026

SDGs remain the world’s shared blueprint for peace, prosperity and sustainability and must be urgently returned to the centre of global decision-making.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Report 2026

The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2026 paints a mixed picture of global progress, highlighting significant achievements while warning that the world is falling behind on its commitment to deliver the 2030 Agenda.

Since the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted in 2015, billions of people have gained improved access to clean water, electricity, healthcare and digital connectivity. However, with less than five years remaining, the report finds progress is uneven and increasingly threatened by conflict, climate change, economic uncertainty, rising debt and declining international aid.

The United Nations is calling for renewed global action, urging governments, businesses and communities to accelerate investment, strengthen international cooperation, expand access to technology and data, speed up the clean energy transition, advance gender equality and recommit to peace.

The report also highlights the critical role of data in driving progress. A decade ago, data were unavailable for around half of all SDG indicators. Today, a global database containing more than three million data points enables countries to better measure progress, identify gaps and target action.

With the 2030 deadline approaching, the report makes clear that the decisions taken over the next four years will determine whether the Sustainable Development Goals remain an ambitious vision or become a lasting legacy for people and the planet.
