Engagement Coordinator - Bendigo (Intern/Volunteer)
SisterWorks is a partner of UN Women, to deliver UN Women’ Second Chance Education pilot project in Australia. SisterWorks provides training programs to the most vulnerable women with little English of refugee and migrant backgrounds. As an Engagement Coordinator Intern/volunteer, you are accountable for registering and welcoming new migrant women, engaging them to programs and utilising tools in place to ascertain their wellbeing and to evaluate their progress.
Study fields: Community Services, Social Work, Community Development, International Development.
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage a group of women to keep them engaged with the organisation
- Coordinate process to support women who requires special needs, identifying services internally and externally according to the directory and doing the proper referrals.
- Support the Intake process following current procedures and criteria
- Work together with fellow engagement coordinators and engagement leads to make sure new women are engaged and achieving their goals.
- Entering womens data into the system database.
- Utilise SisterWorks app on the mobile as a tool to help women.
- Welcome Sisters, warmly introducing them to their first workshop
- Register new Sisters on the online database (Infoodle)
- Support volunteer teachers conduct training programs
- Update Sister’s information, skills, assessment in Infoodle
- Coordinate with Sisters about classes and their participation in classes
Desired experience and qualifications:
- IT skills in Microsoft Office, ability to learn databases and maintain information.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good observation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Women with lived experience as a migrant, refugee or seeking asylum are encouraged to apply
Compulsory requirements:
- Working with Children Check and/or Police Check (if you do not have one, you can apply for one free of cost)
- Available 1 or 2 days per week
- Their own laptop they are happy to work on while at SisterWorks

- Has an ability to work within a person-centred and strengths-based manner.
- Is organised and can follow processes.
- Has a good command of spoken and written English.
- Is a problem solving and solution-focused person.
Time Committment
Intern - 200 hours in total, 3 days/20 hours per week
Volunteer - 1-2 days/6-12 hours per week
Minimum of 6 months
