ABOUT THE ROLE:
Multicultural Australia is currently offering an opportunity for a Community Engagement Project Worker to work as part of our Community Development and Engagement team. The role is full-time, ongoing and based in Redbank.
The Community Engagement Project Worker supports projects in the community that have received funding to develop, facilitate and implement information sessions for members of the community for the purpose of identifying specific needs and barriers for providing services to the community. Among other duties, the successful candidate will:
- Engage in community development work with a variety of cohorts including community members who are CALD, seniors, mothers and children; and youth. This includes regular engagement with community members to identify specific needs and aspirations and develop realistic and achievable strategies to address these;
- Develop, coordinate and facilitate regular information sessions for a range of cohorts;
- Support projects that have received funding through grants and other funding sources for the community centre;
- Assist in facilitating focus groups to identify and develop strategies to address barriers to communities accessing services, particularly older people;
- Develop and maintain positive, collaborative, respectful and productive working relationships with new and emerging communities and existing CALD communities; actively provide support for the development of community structures required to assist communities to achieve their goals, including assistance with the formation of community groups and networks;
- Participate in planning, monitoring and evaluation in relation to the work of the team;
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS DO I NEED?
You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have effective communication and interpersonal skills. As well as having a confident and positive personality, you will possess:
- Possession of a tertiary qualification in Community Development, Human or Community Services, Social Work or related discipline;
- Demonstrated community engagement, facilitation and negotiation skills with a range of different communities including, multicultural, CALD and Senior communities;
- Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in a cross cultural setting;
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan own workload and meet competing deadlines;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and positively in a diverse team environment;
- High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write case plans, complete reports and other professional documents within strict timeframes;
Successful candidate will be required to have a valid driver’s licence, police check and apply for a Working with Children Blue Card. It is a condition of employment with Multicultural Australia to fulfil all our current and future COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
