SisterWorks is a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering women who are refugees, asylum seekers, or migrants. The organisation achieves this through employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, aiming to enhance their confidence, mental wellbeing, sense of belonging and economic outlook. At the heart of this mission is the role of the Social Enterprise Production Assistant, a vital position that aids women from diverse cultural backgrounds helping them to build confidence and to learn and gain new skills to be able to work in Australia.
Position Purpose: To support the day-to-day operations of the Production/Warehouse team.
Key Learning Outcomes: To understand the impact of skill development and employability for vulnerable women and the role of social enterprises in the community.
Roles and Responsibilities Production/Warehouse (skill sharing, capacity building, community support). Empower Sisters through skill enhancement for independent activity execution through working on production jobs together including;
- Cutting and packing materials.
- Organising a workspace appropriate to the project.
- Quality assurance.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Great communication skills are essential.
- Experience with migrants or refugees is preferred.
- Ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and pay attention to detail.
- Interest in supporting women through hands-on learning.
- Arrange the production room for daily manufacturing.
- Assist and engage Sisters in conversations during production.
- Assist Sisters in organising finished products at the end of the day.
- Conduct product counting and quality control at day's end.
- Ensure cleanliness of Production area post-activity.
- Ability to stand for a few hours at a time if needed.
Compulsory requirements:
- Working with Children Check.
- 5-7 hours a week (1 day/week), for 2 months

Training
We will provide training in basic production and warehousing and any specific needs for any production jobs that will be worked on.
Time required
Working hours are flexible, we are looking for 5-7 hours a day, one day a week. Hours range from 9am through to 5pm. We will work with you to find a suitable arrangement.
