This role provides a platform for youth to actively shape the future of the Fair Trade movement in Australia and New Zealand.
Through collaboration with schools, universities, and local communities, the Youth Ambassador raises awareness of the Fair Trade movement and fosters a new generation of conscious consumers and changemakers. By engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders, this role strengthens the impact of the Fair Trade movement and creates a fairer, more sustainable world through education, advocacy, and youth-led initiatives.
Main duties/responsibilities:
- Collaborate with schools, universities, and local governments to build partnerships that amplify Fair Trade education and advocacy.
- Design and implement interactive workshops, courses, and campaigns that increase public understanding of Fair Trade principles.
- Establish a Youth Advisory Council to assist the Executive Committee with strategic decision-making and provide new perspectives.
- Produce materials such as social media content, blogs, and newsletters to engage diverse audiences and further promote the fair trade movement.
- Organise and run community driven events to encourage local involvement and action.
- Expand outreach efforts to recruit volunteers and advocates to help grow the movement’s impact.
Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Current National Police Certificate (or criminal history check).
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in community engagement, advocacy, the not-for-profit sector or similar.
Skills:
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Passion for the Fair Trade movement.
- Knowledge of community engagement principles and practice.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
