Cyber Security for Charities and Not-for-Profits

The Federal Government has committed $89.3 million over four years as part of the next phase of Australia's Cyber Security Strategy, with a focus on helping small and medium businesses and not-for-profits strengthen their cyber resilience.

Working with the ACNC, Department of Social Services and Australian Signals Directorate, the government will develop tailored support for the NFP sector, including a dedicated CyberSmart program, improved cyber security resources, a sector-wide capability assessment and a community of practice to share knowledge and build capability.

The investment aligns with the Not-for-profit Sector Development Blueprint's call for greater support to help charities improve their digital and cyber security capabilities. The initiative comes as cybercrime continues to grow, costing the Australian economy an estimated $25 billion annually.
