Navigating the Legal Journey of Raising Capital

Raising capital involves a legal journey as much as a financial one, from grants to debt and convertible instruments to your first priced equity round. Do you know what to expect at each stage, and what to ask your lawyer along the way?

This masterclass is based on the Impact Investing Legal Toolkit, a free resource offering legal templates and guidance for social enterprises and impact investors in Australia, developed by Social Impact Hub in partnership with Minderoo Foundation and MinterEllison. The Toolkit maps the legal journey of raising capital across six stages, from preparing to raise through to pitching, due diligence, negotiations, documentation and post-investment reporting, with templates including confidentiality agreements, term sheets, Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) notes, impact loan agreements, shareholders agreements and share subscription agreements.

Join Geraldine Johns-Putra, senior corporate and commercial lawyer, for this masterclass exploring the legal dimension of Impact Investing. You'll learn what to expect at each stage of raising capital, which legal documents apply when, and how to approach documentation.
