One month down, two to go, if you are on the countdown to the end of winter like I am! Meanwhile, we’ve got lots of news highlighting people and organisations doing their greatest good to warm your heart, so read on…
Firstly, some exciting news of our own - I am thrilled to advise that we are extending our membership offering to majority female-owned and lead organisations. With much of the pro bono and low-bono work we do for female-founded, purpose-driven organisations, combined with the very low levels of funding and support for women, we wanted to do even more. This not only aligns with our values, but also with our vision for a sustainable, purpose-driven economy built on integrity, equity and fairness. In the words of her Excellency, the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC, “We need to pull every lever to achieve gender equality. Philanthropic dollars are limited – being more intentional about bringing women and girls into focus brings the greatest opportunity for social change,”. So, if your organisation is majority-female-owned and female-lead and would benefit from greater exposure to new audiences, register your interest here.
In other positive news, the Australian Investment Council’s Private Capital Yearbook advised that between 2020 and 2024, Australian family offices grew from 10% of all domestic private capital investors to 40% (whilst the giant super fund investors fell from 48% to 13%). This is the most significant change in Australia’s private capital structure and bodes well for both female and for-purpose organisations, as the patient capital required to support these businesses, shifts allocations to values-based investing. It’s a refreshing change and great opportunity for social impact, especially when combined with the $5 trillion wealth transfer to women we discussed in the March newsletter.
Over the next couple of days, I am joining other changemakers attending the Social Impact Summit in Sydney. If you are also attending, come say hi. Otherwise, please enjoy this month’s newsletter celebrating the good news in the for-purpose sector.
As always, please reach out if you have any queries or suggestions on how we can do more good.
