The Government has introduced the Fair Work Amendment (Paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave) Bill 2022 into the Senate. If passed, ten days paid family and domestic violence (FDV) leave will become a minimum employment entitlement under Australia’s National Employment Standards.
For most organisations, the key changes will start on 1 February 2023 and are just part of a range of practical measures that can be taken to support employees experiencing family and domestic violence. The entitlement will extend to employees who experience violent, threatening or other abusive behaviour by a member of the household, current or former intimate partner or close relative.
