For more than 10 years, the Digital Technology in the Not-For-Profit Sector Survey has been a fixture in the NFP sector's data landscape, providing a robust dataset for evidence-based advocacy and decision-making. Not-for-profit leaders and supporters use the survey results to advocate for the sector, ensuring our technology needs are recognised, understood and acted upon. It provides a picture of how not-for-profits across Australia and New Zealand are using technology – what’s working, what’s holding them back and where support is needed.

Why participate?

The report, based on the findings, is used as "ground truth" by government, corporate philanthropy and peak bodies to inform policy, direct funding and drive better digital outcomes for the sector.

By taking part, you’re ensuring the real technology needs of organisations in our sector are seen, understood and acted upon. Your response enables us to advocate for you in the halls of power and influence across Australia and New Zealand. The more detail you provide, the better we can fight for your voice to be heard.

How much time to allocate

This year’s survey takes around 15 minutes to complete.

Who can participate

Anyone working or volunteering for a charity or not-for-profit operating in Australia or New Zealand.

What you will be asked

General questions about your organisation, along with specific questions about IT systems, cyber security, staff capability, AI and (if you’re willing) technology spending.

All responses are confidential and handled in accordance with our privacy policy. We de-identify all data in the final report and never share your details without permission.

How long do I have to complete it?

The survey closes at 5 pm AEST on Friday, 5 June 2026.
