Social Enterprise Australia has welcomed the continued recognition of social enterprise in the Federal Budget, describing it as a “step change” to see sustained support year-on-year - particularly in a Budget focused on cost-of-living pressures.

According to the organisation, while the commitments made represent important progress toward growing the social enterprise sector, significant gaps remain. They argue that a more holistic, coordinated approach - specifically, a national strategy for social enterprise - is needed to bring existing efforts together, address what’s missing, and scale the sector’s impact.
