Greatest Good Newsletter April 2025 - Electing to do good!

So much is happening in the world of social impact and beyond! Grab a cuppa and settle in for some updates.

Last month, I attended the annual Impact Investing Summit which is a genuinely inspiring group of people and organisations funding social, environmental and community impact locally and overseas. All are delivering impact alongside investment returns. Since I first attended this event, it has evolved from predominantly family offices, foundations, social enterprises and not for profits, to be a wider spectrum of the social and investment sectors. Every year, impact investing becomes more mainstream which is a joy to see.

On a smaller scale, you can use your purchasing power to support organisation doing their greatest good, with the launch of our Australian Mother’s Day Gift Guide. Every purchase and donation supports an Australian social enterprise, B Corp, charity or not for profit, helping you to Shop Good, Gift Good, Do Good and Feel Good!

With the election days away, the reality of a minority government becomes more likely. For the first time, Millennials and Gen Z outnumber the Baby Boomers at around 42% of voters versus 32%. Voting for the two primary parties has dropped from around 90% when Boomers first started voting to around 67% at the last election. For me, the end of election campaigning brings relief from the accusations, empty promises and lies.

Speaking of ethical values, our next organisational Flourish and Thrive in 2025 event features Cris Parker, director of The Ethics Alliance, discussing ethical decision making, especially in a world that no longer appears to value the truth. She will provide an ethical decision-making framework to help you navigate the best decisions you can live with. We pushed this event back a few weeks, so it will be interesting to get Cris’ take on the lead up to the election with the benefit of hindsight.

We also have Tim Hill, Co-Founder and CEO of Social Status (the world's leading social media analytics and reporting tool for marketers) sharing insights on what Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) means for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). He’ll be fresh from attending a conference in the US covering this and will be providing useful tips and advice on catering for SEO and AEO as AI evolves.

Finally, we are seeking a Melbourne-based marketing assistant working 10-15 hours per week. If that’s not you, please share with anyone who you think will be suitable.

As always, please share your feedback, thoughts, comments and suggestions with us, to help us to help you do your greatest good.
